Photos + Digitals

Your photos are your first impression. Here's how to make them count.

What are digitals?

Digitals are simple, clean photos that show clients exactly what you look like right now — no heavy editing, no filters, no dramatic lighting. They're meant to be honest and current. Clients use them to make casting decisions before they ever meet you.

What Sprout needs from you

Clean headshot

Face forward, good light, neutral expression or natural smile. Hair out of your face. No sunglasses, hats, or heavy accessories.

Full-length shot

Head to toe, standing straight. Simple outfit — fitted clothing works best so clients can see your frame.

Profile shot

A clean side profile. Same lighting and background as your other shots if possible.

Smile shot

A natural, relaxed smile. This is especially important if you've had any changes to your teeth.

How to take great home digitals

Lighting

Natural light is best. Stand facing a window — not with the window behind you. Avoid harsh overhead lighting or dark rooms. Overcast days are ideal.

Background

Plain white or light neutral walls work best. Avoid busy patterns, cluttered rooms, or outdoor backgrounds with lots of distractions.

What to wear

Keep it simple. A fitted t-shirt and jeans is perfect. Avoid logos, busy prints, or anything that draws attention away from your face.

Hair and makeup

Hair should be clean and out of your face. Minimal or no makeup. We want to see you — not a styled version of you.

Camera

A recent smartphone camera is fine. No need for professional equipment. Make sure the lens is clean and the photo is in focus.

Expression

Relax. Look directly at the camera. Try a neutral expression and a natural smile — both are useful.
